I received this book for free from in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.
As Reapers Motorcycle Club president, Reese "Picnic" Hayes has
given his entire life to the club. After losing his wife, he knew he'd
never love another woman. And with two daughters to raise and a
club to manage, that was just fine with him. These days, Reese keeps his
relationships free and easy--he definitely doesn't want to waste his
time on a glorified cleaning lady like London Armstrong
Too bad he's completely obsessed with her.
Besides running her own business, London's got her junkie cousin's
daughter to look after--a more reckless than average eighteen-year-old.
Sure she's attracted to the Reapers' president, but she's not stupid.
Reese Hayes is a criminal and a thug. But when her young cousin gets
caught up with a ruthless drug cartel, Reese might be the only man who
can help her. Now London has to make the hardest decision of her
life--how far will she go to save her family?
“There were no tender kisses, no playful giggles. Just the raw desire of two people whose lives have crashed together in the worst possible way.”
After reading the end of Devil’s Game and getting a hint of what was to come with Picnic and London, I have to say it was worth the wait. Reaper’s Stand is without a doubt my favorite book in the Reapers MC series so far! Don’t get me wrong, I love me some Horse, Ruger, and Liam but Picnic is in a class all by himself. He’s older, experienced, and absolutely delicious. Top that off with his alpha tendencies and his hilarious sense of humor and you have yourself one badass biker hero that makes you squirm and melt in all the right places. But alas, the course of true love never runs smoothly and Picnic and London have one hell of a journey getting there.
“I squeezed him tight, because I already had what I wanted. Him. This. Us. Unfortunately, fantasies are for children and I was a grown woman. I should’ve known it wouldn’t last. “
Since the loss of his wife, Heather, Picnic has become the quintessential man-whore. So for someone like Picnic, who vows to never have an old-lady again, it takes a strong woman to make him feel something other than lust and London is that woman. She is by far my favorite heroine of the series so far. London is a responsible, hard-working mama bear that has her hands tied with her wild niece, Jessica, and a cleaning business to run. So when Picnic takes a liking to London he makes it almost impossible to resist. Sure, he is kind of scary, and she finds him in some compromising positions, but the attraction between the two is undeniable. Every moment is charged. But it’s more than just sex between Picnic and London. Both of them are older, wiser, and have more battle wounds when it comes to matters of the heart, so their coupling is that much sweeter.
“Just let me be strong for you for a minute, okay?” He said softly. “You’ve held on for a long time, sweetheart. Nobody can say you haven’t been strong. But it’s been a hell of a night, so why don’t you let me hold you and help you right now, okay?”
But despite some tender moments, Reaper’s Stand is far from hearts and flowers. This story is gritty and raw and constantly leaves you on edge. The relationship between London and Picnic is put to the ultimate test and the repercussions are explosive. It was quite simply a reader’s paradise. Reaper’s Stand is a must read for anyone that loves their romance with a violent edge. I cannot wait to see what the Reapers are up to next!
“So I guess this probably means our deal is off?”
Her voice sounded uncertain, almost scared. Still a little slurred, too. I turned to glare at her, taking in her tangled blonde hair, the curve of her generous hips in those tight jeans and the way her shirt drooped low enough to show plenty of cleavage.
“Not if you want to keep the club accounts,” I growled, wondering why the hell I didn’t just fire her ass. My cock reminded me that we weren’t finished with her yet. “I’ll see you out at my place on Tuesday. Make enough food for leftovers and maybe we’ll have a talk about getting a crew into The Line.”
“Thank you,” she whispered.
“Eat shit,” I said, and then slammed out the door.
Seems like a bit of an overreaction, Heather gloated as I climbed into my truck.
She could eat shit, too. Fucking women. Even dead, they stuck together.
