The end of September is nigh and my shelves have runneth over! This month has been pretty tame in comparison with what is coming up in October. Trust me when I say all the books are coming in October. But before we welcome my favorite month of the year let’s bid September farewell.
- [2 Sep] Trial by Fire by Josephine Angelini ★★★★★
- [3 Sep] I Hunt Killers by Barry Lyga ★★★★★
- [5 Sep] Game by Barry Lyga ★★★★½
- [22 Sep] Blood of My Blood by Barry Lyga ★★★★½
- [25 Sep] You: A Novel by Caroline Kepnes ★★★½
- [29 Sep] Torture To Her Soul by JM Darhower ★★½
There Will Be Blood
Out of the 6 books I reviewed this month 4 of those had covers covered in blood.
Maybe I was unconsciously preparing myself for the approach of October and Halloween and all things creepy? Nah. There were just a lot of bloody good books (see what I did there?) that took precedence on my TBR.
Favorite September Release
I received this book for free from in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.
This world is trying to kill Lily Proctor. Her life-threatening allergies keep her from enjoying experiences that others in her hometown of Salem take for granted, which is why she is determined to enjoy her first high school party with her best friend and longtime crush, Tristan. But after a humiliating incident in front of half her graduating class, Lily wishes she could just disappear.
Suddenly, Lily is in a different Salem—one overrun with horrifying creatures and ruled by powerful women called Crucibles. Strongest and cruelest of them all is Lillian . . . Lily's other self in this alternate universe.
What makes Lily weak at home is what makes her extraordinary in New Salem. In this confusing world, Lily is torn between responsibilities she can't hope to shoulder alone and a love she never expected.
Trial by Fire was my first true Witch book and it exceeded all of my expectations! The world-building was complex. The plot was exciting. And the swoon? Oh boy. I found myself a new book boyfriend to love and adore. Seriously, if you are into YA you should REALLY check this series out!
The 2014 Book Boyfriend Elections
If you have been following me on the blog or on Facebook I had a little idea that somehow spawned into a HUGE project. What I originally I wanted to do was find a book boyfriend from every state in the USA but there are SO many book boyfriends! And even bigger amount of Book Boyfriends I haven’t had the pleasure of meeting yet. Especially ones from states like Delaware. Do you know how hard it is to find a romance set in Delaware?!? This lead me to create The 2014 Book Boyfriend Elections. Each week I ask people to either comment on my blog or on Facebook and nominate a Book Boyfriend from the set of states I have listed. Right now we are in the middle of Round #2 nominations and every comment/like/share counts! For schedules and information check out this post here and come join the fun. Hopefully this will introduce you to a new book, a new author, but most importantly, a new book boyfriend!
Last month Outlander debuted on Starz and for those of us that have read the books and have been watching the show the wedding is the episode we have all been waiting for!
Sure, we could talk about how beautiful Claire looked…
or how sweet Jamie was….
But let’s be honest.
This is what we have been waiting for….
When the kilt finally dropped, panties across the world were igniting. The wedding episode of Outlander was by far one of the HOTTEST things I have ever seen. It definitely did “Revelations of a Bridal Chamber” justice. I have re-watched that episode an obscene amount of times….
…and I am not ashamed.
Sadly, Outlander is on a midseason break and won’t be back till April 2015; cue endless amounts of tears.
Let’s Show Some Love to….
Each month I want to send a little shout-out to some of my favorite bloggers. This month I want you to show some love to…
Megan @ Reading Books Like a Boss!
Not only is Megan someone I love to chat about my favorite books with but she has some pretty amazing features on her site that everyone should check out. Some of my favorites are:
If your looking for all things bookish, Megan is your girl! Check her out on Facebook and tell her I said hello 🙂
What’s coming in October?
Besides all things fall, pumpkin and Halloween, October is jam packed with TONS of new releases! I was trying to compile a list all of the book releases and I lost track after 20. It’s going to be a lovely month full of amazing reads.
Mark your calendars for these notable standouts:
The fourth book in the Reapers MC series just keeps getting better and better. Picnic is my kind of guy. He’s older. He’s set in his ways. And he’s kind of a prick. Sure, that might not sound like the nicest of qualities but he makes it work in some sexy ways. Make sure to keep your eyes peeled mid-month for my review on the blog tour!
- Stitching Snow by R.C. Lewis
A Snow White re-imagining + science fiction? Sign me up! There are SO many fairly tale retellings coming out in the next few months and this is one that I’m very excited for. While I haven’t read any reviews I have heard that this is comparable to Marissa Meyer’s Lunar Chronicles and I know plenty of people that give it rave reviews.
The final book of Lily and Lo’s storyline drops on Halloween and it’s going to be a bittersweet ending. I’m sure we will see plenty more of them in the spinoff Rose/Connor & Ryke/Daisy spinoffs but this is one couple I’m gonna be said to say goodbye to. This series is not for everyone but it’s worth checking out if you haven’t. It’s emotional, sexy and a breathe of fresh air for the New Adult genre.
Tell me what were your favorites of September? What are you looking forward to in October?
