“But the tattoo will always remain. I will always remain. I am the ink in your blood.”
Shock and Awe. These are two words I can describe to explain my reaction to this powerhouse of a novella. For those that have yet to read Sins & Needles, or have already been introduced to
Ellie Eden & Javier, this can be read at ANY time, before/after Sins & Needles or as a stand-alone. That said, having read Sins & Needles prior, there is nothing that prepared me for On Every Street.
“I’d been watching this man for almost a month now, the exotic man with the peridot-colored eyes. From a distance they’d always sparkled like the gemstones, but now that I was in the same room with him, I could see they had an amber tinge to them, rendering them almost reptilian. That should have been my first warning, that this was all a horrible idea.”
Ladies, meet Javier.
He is intriguing…
“Do you believe in fate, Eden?”
He is a smooth talker…
“I could never forget your voice. You sound like an angel who’s gotten her wings dirty.”
He is extremely perceptive…
“No, you have a story in your eyes. You lived in this world a hundred times over. You’ve seen things that no one else should see.”
He puts the O in erotic…
“…I want to stain you, Eden. I want myself imbedded in your skin, in your heart, in your soul.”
Sorry, just had to get that out there. On Every Street is by far one of the sexiest books I have read in a long time. I am not by any means bashful but there were moments where I could not stop the smile on my face, or the flush in my cheeks. This novella will leave you on fire…
“Are you ready to give me everything?” he asked. I said yes before I had a chance to take it back”
But I wasn’t surprised to have a lustful reaction to Javier. I was expecting that like the pervert I am. What I didn’t expect was to fall in love with this beautifully, dangerous man.
“You are all mine, even if you run. I will find you because a soul needs its other half to truly live.”
But this story is not only about Javier. Although he does steal the show. This story is about Ellie/Eden’s journey to vengeance and what happened to her along the way.
I simply adore Ellie. What I love about Ellie/Eden is she is not a damsel in distress and she is far from innocent. Her strength, her vulnerability and her self-respect are qualities that I wish more woman possessed now-a-days. And frankly, I just wanna give the girl a hug.
On Every Street covers a wide range of emotions. Happiness. Anger. Pain. Love. Lust. Fear. Hate. Call me a masochist, but I LOVED every second of it. The butterflies, the tears, everything. Why? Because I wanted to *feel* something deep inside me, to my bones, to my heart, and I did.
