From the New York Times bestselling author of the Fall Away series who never fails to deliver a “powerfully written contemporary love story…”*
Former tennis player Easton Bradbury is trying to be the best teacher she can be, trying to reach her bored students, trying to forget her past. What brought her to this stage in her life isn’t important. She can’t let it be. But now one parent-teacher meeting may be her undoing…
Meeting Tyler Marek for the first time makes it easy for Easton to see why his son is having trouble in school. The man knows how to manage businesses and wealth, not a living, breathing teenage boy. Or a young teacher, for that matter, though he tries to. And yet…there is something about him that draws Easton in—a hint of vulnerability, a flash of attraction, a spark that might burn.
Wanting him is taboo. Needing him is undeniable. And his long-awaited touch will weaken Easton’s resolve—and reveal what should stay hidden…

There are 2 direct ways to my heart. The first is books. Good books. Books that make me happy, sad, excited, and intrigued. The second way to my heart is through music. Talk to me in lyrics and verse and I will love you forever.
Those two reasons are why I am here to talk to you about the amazingness that is Misconduct. Not only did this book endear to my book worm tendencies but that playlist….
Again, Penelope is one of those authors that I look forward to the playlist as much as the actual book. When I saw that she posted the playlist on her website I found myself listening to the songs as I read along. Not only did it put me in the headspace that Easton and Tyler were in, but it connected me to the story in a different way.
There were a few of the songs that really captured my attention that I must mention.
When the Saints Go Marching In by Louis Armstrong
♫ O when the saints go marching in
When the saints go marching in
O Lord I want to be in that number
When the saints go marching in ♫
In case you failed to read the synopsis, Misconduct takes place in New Orleans and trust me when I say that nothing encompasses the spirit of Nola better than some Louis Armstrong.
To The Hills by Laurel
♫ I feel it here on my skin like demons
Cry with joy cause I know hell follows me
Out here in the garden of angels
I felt what is was like to be free ♫
Simply put this song is so Easton.
Room to Breathe by You Me At Six
♫ I’ve been through and seen a lot
Left at the bottom and the top
We’re on borrowed time
But time isn’t enough ♫
Everything about Tyler and Easton’s relationship is sexy and taboo but there are these moments of profound emotion and urgency. Kind of like the lyrics, you can’t help but feel the desperation behind their fated love affair.
I highly suggest you check out the rest of Penelope’s playlist. I put together a nifty Spotify playlist that you can play on repeat to get you ready for all the angst that is Easton and Tyler.
If you are one of those readers that need some songs and lyrics, I highly recommend checking out all of Penelope’s Fall Away Series. Not only is that series ridiculously good but she also happens to have playlists for each book 🙂
