Rylee Thomas is used to being in control. But she’s about to meet the one man that just might make her enjoy losing it…
I am the exception to the rule.
In a world full of willing women, I’m a challenge to the roguish and achingly handsome Colton Donavan. A man used to getting exactly what he wants in all aspects of life. He’s the reckless bad boy constantly skating that razor thin edge toward out of control, on and off of the track.
Colton crashes into my life like a tornado: sapping my control, testing my vulnerabilities beyond their limits, and unintentionally penetrating the protective wall around my healing heart. Tearing apart the world I rebuilt so carefully with structure, predictability, and discipline.
I can’t give him what he wants and he can’t give me what I need. But after a glimpse beneath his refined exterior into the dark secrets of his damaged soul, can I bring myself to walk away?
Our sexual chemistry is undeniable. Our individual need for complete control is irrefutable. But when our worlds collide, is the chemistry enough to bring us together or will our untold secrets and battle of wills force us apart?(
Ladies, do you love cocky, infuriating and pain-in-the-ass bad boys?
Well you’re in luck, because Colton Donovan is all that and more.
When Rylee finds herself trapped in a closest and hyperventilating the only thing on her mind is escape. That all changes when Colton is the one to rescue her. There is immediate sparks between them that leaves Rylee cringing because she had just caught Colton in a compromising position with another woman earlier in the night. Her reluctance to their chemistry leaves Rylee trying to avoid Colton. But Colton is intrigued by the hard-to-get Rylee, and he is determined to change her mind.
“You know that deep down, a tiny part of that proper, respectable woman you are, wants to visit that reckless, sexy, uninhibited place inside you that’s begging to get out. A place I can undoubtedly help you find.”
Colton is suddenly everywhere Rylee is and she cannot escape him nor her growing attraction. Finally he gives her an offer she cannot refuse. Especially when it involves the job that is close to her heart.
This sets off a series of events that leaves them getting physically and emotionally acquainted with one another. But both Rylee and Colton are harboring deep wounds that make their connection hard to handle. Rylee is terrified of giving her heart away, and Colton refuses to succumb his title as that ultimate bachelor.
“I will revel in that moment with him which will be filled with reverent sighs and entangled bodies, and I’ll be devastated when he walks away after having his fill of me.”
What starts out as a way to scratch the proverbial itch leads to feelings that both Colton and Rylee cannot ignore but their pasts and their present collide leaving their situation unresolved.
Driven is one hell of a book. I was a bit apprehensive about the beginning because the interaction between Rylee and Colton happened so fast but it really set up the basis of how their relationship works. Colton is cocky, relentless and refuses to take no for an answer. There were moments I wanted to strangle him for how closed off and cold he could be.
“I’ll purposely do something to hurt you to prove that I can. To prove that you won’t stick around regardless of the consequences. To prove that I can control the situation. To control that I don’t get hurt.”
But there were moments that he softens up and I really felt that Rylee was more than just a conquest to him. Especially when it came to her job and how he tried to help her out.
Rylee is a very refreshing heroine. She has her weaknesses and a past that is utterly heartwretching but she also has a backbone and refuses to keep quiet when she is upset. Rylee is a woman that you root for because she is strong yet fragile and so very endearing.
Oh, and have I mentioned the sweltering heat between these two? My gosh! You will need a bucket of ice and and a fan because it is scorching.
“I want to take my time with you, Rylee. I want to build you up nice and slow and sweet like you need. Push you to crash over that edge. And then I want to fuck you the way I need to. Fast and hard until you’re screaming my name. The way I’ve wanted to since you fell out of that storage closet and into my life.”
Driven is not just an erotic story about a bad boy and a good girl. It’s a story about two flawed people trying to find connection in a world that has left them in pieces. It is sexy, heartbreaking, and entertaining from start to finish and I cannot wait to see what happens next.
