The Circus Spektakulär is proud to present Jack McCabe: Fire-breather, knife-thrower, risk-taker.
My house burned down when I was just a boy, robbing me of both my parents.
Now I breathe fire, eat the poison that almost killed me.
Crowds come to see me night after night. Men for the spectacle, women for the thrill. I’m an oddity to be stared at and desired. With each flame I spit, I risk my life.
I wear scars on my body that will never go away, but the scars inside my head are far more difficult to overlook.
My brother doesn’t know me, and if I have it my way he never will.
Life was going exactly the way I’d planned until Lille came along. She wanted to run away with the circus, have an adventure, but this world was never meant for her.
I try to keep her safe, because she doesn’t know the dangers that are out here on the road. She doesn’t know the monsters that lurk behind the bright lights of the ring. In truth, I could be considered one of them.
We were fashioned from different cloths, never intended to mix. So I watch her. I try not to touch, even when her eyes invite me.

The truest love is always the hardest to let in.
This is a standalone romance that tells the story of Jack McCabe, Jay Fields’ long lost, presumed dead brother. It is not necessary to have read Six of Hearts in order to enjoy Hearts of Fire.
“You’re a strange girl.”
“And you’re a strange boy.”
I should have known that a L.H. Cosway novel would be my first 5 star of the year. I don’t think I’m a harsh reviewer by any means, but after re-evaluating some of my previous ratings and reviews I made a goal to myself to be a little more choosy with what I deem a 5 star. To me, a 5 star is for a book that is perfect as is and could not be improved upon. For me, Hearts of Fire is that and more!
“The things I desire most are not something I’m sure I could ask another person to give.”
I loved Six of Hearts and was excited to see what we would be back in that world again but this time with Jay’s brother, Jack. Jack is EVERYTHING. From the very moment Jack makes his appearance it becomes obvious as to why Lille is intrigued. He is a swoony jerk with a dirty mouth, a heartbreaking past, and an obsession for fire. Yes, Jack is a fire-breather in the circus and it’s sexy as all get out. There were a few times that he would do something to Lille, like caress that back of her neck, or he would say something dirty to her, and I legit thought my womb clenched. <—j/k but seriously, to quote author Penelope Reid, I got zings to my things.
“You have never been invisible to me flower. You’re all I see.”
But it wasn’t just Jack. Lille was strong, and sweet, and funny, and such a relatable leading lady. It was the constant push/pull between the two of them. It was the progression of their relationship. It was seeing them fall in lust and in love and in trust with one another. Hearts of Fire was sexy and romantic and magical. There is also a bit of a mystery and some suspense going on that takes place while all this sexiness is going on. I’m not sure if my review will do justice to how much I enjoyed this story and these characters but I cannot recommend Hearts of Fire enough!
