Is it possible to expose Chicago’s hottest player—without getting played?
This is the story I've been waiting for all my life, and its name is Malcolm Kyle Preston Logan Saint. Don’t be fooled by that last name though. There’s nothing holy about the man except the hell his parties raise. The hottest entrepreneur Chicago has ever known, he’s a man’s man with too much money to spend and too many women vying for his attention.
Mysterious. Privileged. Legendary. His entire life he’s been surrounded by the press as they dig for tidbits to see if his fairytale life is for real or all mirrors and social media lies. Since he hit the scene, his secrets have been his and his alone to keep. And that’s where I come in.
Assigned to investigate Saint and reveal his elusive personality, I’m determined to make him the story that will change my career.
But I never imagined he would change my life. Bit by bit, I start to wonder if I'm the one discovering him...or if he's uncovering me.
What happens when the man they call Saint, makes you want to sin?
“Ruthless, they say.
A complete manwhore, they say.
And so ambitious he’d put Midas to shame. Oh yeah. They say Saint won’t rest until he owns the world.”
Leave it to Katy Evans to make me fall for the manwhore. Truth; her heroes are of epic proportions. I loved Remington in Real and Malcolm Saint is no different. In fact, Saint has charmed the hell out of me. There is a air of mystery surrounding him that really leaves you curious to who this man truly is beneath the expensive suit. He plays his cards close to his chest and there is just something about him that has you wanting more.
“I indulge in anything that I want. I’m not in the business of denying myself what I want. I’m not in the business of denying those around me anything they want. I’m yours if you want me, Rachel.”
As with many billionaire romance novels I was expecting the same tried-and-true formula: girl and billionaire meet, billionaire woos girl who is reluctant to have anything to do with his money or his time, they start falling in love, conflict arises, cliffy. Ok, well maybe some of that is true to script with Manwhore, but I still feel that it’s pretty set apart from those type of romances that have come out in the past couple years. I think that is in part because Malcolm Saint is just a different kind of man. When he wasn’t being so blatantly sexy and alpha male, there was this unexpected sweet side that has you falling for him as Rachel starts doing. But Manwhore is not without faults.
“I’m a difficult man, I’m not easy to handle–some might argue I refuse to be handled. I’ll never commit to anyone–I never have, and I don’t think I ever could. You don’t want my money, you don’t want to party with me–not the way others want. You almost wouldn’t sleep with me. But then you come to me as if you want my protection and it makes me want to be that man.”
I did have some issues with the story that left it hard for me to rate higher. One was Rachel’s constant mooning over how sexy Saint is. If you read Real then you will remember how Brooke went ON and ON about Remy. This is basically the same problem. After the 50th adjective used to describe how amazeballs Malcolm is, it becomes a bit old. I also took issue with Rachel and her “dedication” to her job. To me, it just never felt believable, especially View Spoiler »how easy it was for her to give it up once she had feelings for Saint, which I would say was pretty early on. « Hide Spoiler. But the other thing that got to me was how horrible her best friends advice was. Like for real, do your friends hate you that much?!? Despite those annoyances, I truly enjoyed reading Manwhore. I finished in one sitting and I’m anxiously awaiting Manwhore +1! If you are looking for a mysterious alpha male that guns for your panties and maybe your heart, Malcolm Kyle Preston Logan Saint is worth every delicious minute.
