It’s been 3 months, 26 days, and about 20-ish hours since I’ve last blogged.
But who’s counting? 😉
What initially began as me just being a little lazy, a little overworked, and a lotta disappointed by some books that I was anticipating, somehow morphed into a 3+ month hiatus from blogging that had me questioning if I would come back. I love blogging. I really really do! I love talking about books and hopefully getting others to talk about books. But sometimes it’s hard out there for a blogger.
Spending hours writing a review that maybe 3 people will read? Sucks. Trying to come up with new and exciting content to find out that your content wasn’t as fresh as you thought it was OR that you just became the inspiration for another bloggers heavily
plagiarized inspired content? Really sucks. Or just generally being disheartened by the amount of controversy, competition, and shade thrown around in the book community? Really really sucks.
All I ever wanted to do was talk about books. It’s as simple and as complicated as that.
But other than the little insight as to why I’ve been hibernating, this post is mainly about the future of reviews here at My Book Muse.
I envy the people that can flesh out an interesting, informative, and entertaining reviews in the matter of minutes but I am not that guy. I obsess and nitpick EVERY little word, quote, space, and pause, and frankly it is exhausting. So while I still plan to review (among other things) it might be in a different format as I normally do. I want blogging to be fun again. I don’t want to spend the time agonizing over every detail as I normally do.
So this is the part that I need feedback from YOU!
Do you read reviews? If so, what makes you seek them out? Do you like them to be short and to the point? Or long and descriptive?
