In this grippingly emotional New Adult novel from the author of Caged in Winter, what you want isn’t always what you need…
Jason’s been living (and loving) the rich playboy lifestyle for five years, but now his parents are pressuring him to get involved in the family business. The last thing he wants is another obligation, but when his best friend moves out of state and asks Jason to look after his sister, he can’t just say no.
Tessa had to grow up way too soon. After dealing with the aftermath of her parents’ deaths, then becoming a teenage mom, she knows the meaning of responsibility. Which is why, at twenty-two, she’s looking for so much more than a party boy. She’s looking for someone who can stand by her and her daughter…forever.
A relationship between them is doomed from the start, but who says they can’t have a little fun? But as Jason gets closer to Tessa—and her daughter—fun starts to turn into something else… Something Jason’s not sure he’s ready for.
“I don’t want to be just one girl in a long line of too many to count.”
Brighton Walsh is a strong voice in the NA genre. With each new book of her’s that finds its way to my Kindle I become a bigger fan. I have been so excited to read Tessa Ever After after reading Caged in Winter and it comes as no surprise considering it has three of my favorite things: romance between brother’s best friend and his sister, the manwhore, and the single mom . Seriously, give me any combination of those three things and I will be a happy camper. We saw this coming in Caged in Winter and believe me when I say that it was worth the wait!
“I want to give Tessa what no one’s given her before. I want to give her what I’ve never given anyone before. Connection without an expiration date.”
Jason rarely beds the same girl twice. Tessa is looking for stability for her and her daughter Haley. For her, it’s a daily struggle to be the best mom and provider she can be all while trying to find some love and comfort for herself. When Jason starts keeping an eye out for her, as per Cade (his best friend and her big brother’s) instructions, neither one of them can deny the tension and attraction between them. But by far one of my favorite things about this book is the dirty talk. OMG. Dirty talk is my FAVORITE and Jason has such a wicked mouth on him. Seriously, he had me all weak in the knees ::sighs::
“She’s it for me. She and Haley are it–my family, the kid I’ve always wanted. The kind my grandpa always talked about. They’re the home I desperately sought the entirety of my life. Now that I’ve finally found it, I’m never letting them go.”
But besides Tessa Ever After being extremely sexy, it was so lovely. I don’t think seeing manwhores fall in love will be going out of style anytime soon. There is just something about the surrender of a previously promiscuous man that just cuts me to the quick. I LOVED this story and cannot wait for Paige and Adam’s story.
