Some things are worth waiting for…
Traveling thousands of miles from home to enter college is the only way nineteen-year-old Avery Morgansten can escape what happened at the Halloween party five years ago—an event that forever changed her life. All she needs to do is make it to her classes on time, make sure the bracelet on her left wrist stays in place, not draw any attention to herself, and maybe—please God—make a few friends, because surely that would be a nice change of pace. The one thing she didn’t need and never planned on was capturing the attention of the one guy who could shatter the precarious future she’s building for herself.
Some things are worth experiencing…
Cameron Hamilton is six feet and three inches of swoon-worthy hotness, complete with a pair of striking blue eyes and a remarkable ability to make her want things she believed were irrevocably stolen from her. She knows she needs to stay away from him, but Cam is freaking everywhere, with his charm, his witty banter, and that damn dimple that’s just so… so lickable. Getting involved with him is dangerous, but when ignoring the simmering tension that sparks whenever they are around each other becomes impossible, he brings out a side of her she never knew existed.
Some things should never be kept quiet…
But when Avery starts receiving threatening emails and phone calls forcing her to face a past she wants silenced, she’s has no other choice but to acknowledge that someone is refusing to allow her to let go of that night when everything changed. When the devastating truth comes out, will she resurface this time with one less scar? And can Cam be there to help her or will he be dragged down with her?
And some things are worth fighting for…
Wait For You by Jennifer L. Armentrout has undoubtedly become one of my favorite reads of 2013. From the moment I started reading the 1st page, till the very last sentence, I could not put my kindle down. Jennifer has yet again impressed me.
“You’re going in the wrong direction, sweetheart.” I’d been going in the wrong direction half my life it seemed.“
After escaping from her family, her past, and the event that shattered her world, 19 year old Avery Morgansten is on her own, and trying to keep things that way. She keeps a low profile. She keeps to herself. But a chance run-in (literally) before class with drop dead gorgeous Cameron Hamilton changes everything.
“I’m not going to drop the class….But I doubt I’m going to have anything to tell you. It’s not like we’re even going to talk again.” Jacob let go of my arm and sat back, eying me. “Famous last words, Avery.”
Suddenly Cam is everywhere; her class, her apartment building. And despite her reluctance, Cam’s charm and persistence start to get under her skin.
Then he shifted just a fraction of an inch. A slight movement that somehow brought us even closer together, hip to hip. A shudder rocked its way down my spine. The awareness of my body and his, all of it was overwhelming. I was responding to him in an instinctual way, in a manner I was wholly unaccustomed to.
My body knew what to do, what it wanted, even though my brain was firing off so many warnings I felt like Homeland Security during a Code Red.
The sexual tension between Avery and Cam is so intense I had butterflies in my stomach. I felt the anguish, the passion, the absolute pull between these two characters. How can you not have that kind of reaction with Cam?
Cam has now taken over the place in my heart reserved for my book boyfriends. Cam is:
- Thoughtful ✓
- Sweet ✓
- Passionate ✓
- Patient ✓
- Hilarious ✓
- Sexy as-all-get-out ✓ ✓ ✓
“I’m beginning to think cookies is a code word for something else.” “Maybe it is…and just think about it. If cookie was a code word, whatever it symbolizes, it’s been in your mouth, sweetheart.”
I dunno what it is about Jennifer’s men having cookie fetishes (Example: Daemon in Onxy)
“Cookie?” he offered, holding a cookie full of chocolate chips.
Upset tummy or not, there was no way I could refuse that. “Sure.”
His lips tipped up one side and he leaned toward me, his mouth inches from mine. “Come and get it.”
Come and get…? Daemon placed half the cookie between those full, totally kissable lips.
Oh, holy alien babies everywhere…”
Now I will never look at a cookie without being turned on.
But on a serious note, Wait For You is a beautifully written stand-alone that tackles a horrific subject with grace and dignity. At no point while reading did I feel the relationship developing between Cam and Avery to be rushed or cheapened with steamier scenes. I loved Avery from the very start. She was endearing, gentle and so likeable. I found myself empathizing with the weight she carried by herself. And Cam, be still my beating heart. He captivated me from the very beginning and I couldn’t help be become enamored with him.
By the end of the Wait For You I was in tears because all of the underlying themes resonated deep within me; Fate, Faith, Love, Strength, Trust. If your looking for a story that leaves you with a smile on your face and hope in your heart than I cannot recommend Wait For You enough.
